There is a war going on!
The biggest software makers, governments sponsored universities, start-ups and individuals are all competing in order to:
a. come up with the next and better Search Engine.
b. win over the searchers
c. cash-in on the profitable online advertisement business.
The protagonists are scattered all over the world, hence I’ll call it the Search Engine World War (SEWW). The biggest players are of course Google, Yahoo and Microsoft.
My post today is about Microsoft’s search engine.
I have read tons of articles and heard analysts’ opinions stating that actually Microsoft’s engine is as good as Google’s the problem being that customers' minds are just defaulted to search on Google rather then using Microsoft’s engine.
Another disadvantage for Microsoft is apparently the fact that Google is "verbable". People do "google it" indeed.
I have decided to go ahead and try to “microsoft it”.
Then I realized that Microsoft’s search engine is actually called “Live Search”, so I decided to “live seach it” instead.
I went ahead and typed the address in the browser: www.livesearch.com
Surprise! The site redirects to a page which I assumed was the intended Microsoft’s search engine.
I then did a search on Google (“google it”) for “Microsoft Live Search” and found out that the URL for Microsoft’s search engine was actually "www.live.com"
I went on and “live it” this time, and finally got to the slick Microsoft search page.
I have no doubts Microsoft’s search engine will turn out great, but with all the confusion created around “Microsoft Search”, “Live Search” and “Live” no wonder it is so hard to find it.
Meanwhile I am still not sure which verb to stick with, when using Microsoft's Search Engine: “microsoft it”, “live search it” or “live it”?

OK, I’ll try to “microsoft it”
