I went to see a High-Tech Expo at the Tokyo International Exhibition Center (aka Tokyo Big Sight).
It was my first visit to this kind of event in Japan, and I was really impressed - Impressed by the number and the quality of the exhibitors as well as with the grandness of the facility.
The event gathered under the same roof eight concurrent specialized exhibitions as follow:
- 17th Software Development Expo
- 13th Data Warehouse & CRM Expo
- 2nd Web2.0 Marketing Fair
- 5th Information Security Expo
- 3rd RFID Solutions Expo
- 2nd Direct Marketing Expo
- 10th Data Storage Expo
- 11th Embedded Systems Expo
I had the chance to chat with a few very interesting people, among them:
- a gentleman from England providing data-warehousing solutions.
- a gentleman, PhD from Germany - we talked about the similarities between the German and Japanese software development approach, especially when it comes to in-house development.
- a Japanese gentleman who’s company provides international research services for the government and Japanese organizations.
In term of exhibitors the offer was big: from all the giants like Microsoft, SAP, Google, Fujitsu, Hitachi etc. to young and dynamic Japanese companies, from BPOs from India to on-demand software like saleforces.com. etc.
Noticeable, I was very impressed with a software outsourcing company from Vietnam.
The facility and organization was English friendly, however many exhibitors lacked informational material in English, which is normal since probably 99.99% of visitors were Japanese.
This seems to be an annual event - next year will be held from May 13 to May 15 at the same location.
See you there!
