The Shinkansen or the airplane?

I often travel between Hiroshima and Tokyo, yet still not sure which way is the best - taking the “bullet train” Shinkansen or the airplane?

The 900 km distance between Hiroshima and Tokyo (a little shorter than the distance between Vancouver and Calgary) takes 4 hours with Shinkansen and about 1 hour and 20 minutes with the airplane.
The prices are quite similar, around $400 for return trip - depending of the season.

Shinkansen’s advantage is that it takes you straight to central Tokyo, respectively Hiroshima, whereas the airports are outside the city centers.Airplane’s advantage – it is obviously faster.
There are over 40 Shinkansen running daily between Hiroshima and Tokyo - I don’t know how many daily flights.
