Getting around Yamanote Line

Yamanote Line – is a major train line in Tokyo, circling the city center.

It is said that during the economic bubble, the value of the land contained within the Yamanote Line was higher than the land value of the whole state of California.

As visitor, you probably get be best value by riding the Yamanote Line, as most of the tourist attractions are along or near:

Ueno – with the Ueno Zoo, the Park and Art Museums,
Akihabara – the Electronic City,
Tokyo Station – with the Emperor Palace near,
Shinagawa – with the Tokyo Tower near,
Shibuya – for shopping and entertainment,
Shinjuku – for hanging out with the crowds.

Getting around Yamanote Line is very easy - all cars have electronic displays in both English and Japanese, showing the current location of the train, a diagram of stations and the time (in minutes) to destination.
