There are people who have the misconception about Hiroshima that since the city was destroyed by the atomic bomb, there can’t be much left around the Hypocenter - maybe a ghost city like Pripyat, near Chernobyl.
This is very untrue.
Due to the "small" size of the first atomic bomb, the fact that it exploded in the air and other particular conditions, it saved the city from long term effects and Hiroshima was rebuilt.
Here, in the four pictures above, you can see the plaque that marks the Hypocenter. The atomic bomb exploded 580 meters above that spot, in the air.
The two pictures below shows typical streets in this neighborhood (downtown).
